Although born and raised in southern California, JP has resided in Southern Oregon since 2009 dividing his time between working with dogs as well as working with mentally ill and abused adolescents. JP worked as a behaviorist with children, adolescents, and families for most of his adult life. This collided with the dog world in a Los Angeles dog park in 2002-where by chance JP was befriended by a well-known and successful dog behaviorist/rehabilitator. This was the foundation that would lead to the unique style in which JP has developed in working with dogs and the people who love them.
In 2014 JP was approached by Jackson County Sheriffs Dept in Southern Oregon and asked to develop a safety training course for officers to educate them about dog body language and behaviors in hopes of decreasing lethal response to dog encounters. JP often issues challenges on social media to owners of 'aggressive' dogs to allow him to film approaching and entering their property-demonstrating that very few dogs will truly bite or attack if approached correctly. These videos( You can view them on youtube titled: "How to avoid dog attacks using body language and energy") are what makes JP's training unique-setting him apart from others. JP prides himself on making every effort to teach his clients as much as possible in fewer sessions, rather than 'milking' countless sessions and prolonging the process.
